Eating Disorder therapy

What to Expect in Therapy

Working together to address your eating disorder, we integrate a variety of different modalities. In what I call “Connection Therapy,” we will explore your experiences from a depth, emotion-based perspective, taking into consideration trauma you may have experienced as well as other past and present life circumstances. At the same time, we will also bring in “cognitive-behavioral” or “action-based” modalities like meditation, mindfulness, spirituality, movement, reading, writing, art, humor, etc.—each as they are meaningful, relevant, and helpful to you.  You do not need to leave home or enroll in an Intensive In- or Out-patient program to learn to use these modalities! Our aim is to help build your understanding of your eating disorder from the inside-out and help you to integrate new and more nurturing ways of caring for yourself in whatever environment you find yourself.

Working together, we can help you find new words and new actions to replace the physical enactments that each one of the eating disorders represents. Working together, we will help you develop the tools that don’t just temporarily mask the symptoms of your eating disorder, but that actually help you make sense of and intervene in the patterns that perpetuate them.
